B!0+μ(mu)SiC: Nature/Environment/Technology is a music festival intersecting nature, environment, and technology through Contemporary Biomusic. Through sensory and auditory elements, this festival aims to create an experience that educates, celebrates, and offer a space to unwind—reflecting on our symbiotic relationship with nature.
This identity system prioritizes clarity and variety. Taking inspiration from the golden ratio, the grid structure represents how all three elements (nature/environment/ technology) within the festival are interconnected. In other words, Contemporary Biomusic is similar to how the golden ratio acts as a blueprint for all systems.
The type hierarchy and system are based on the sounds of Contemporary Biomusic, derived from the playful nature of the title of the festival. Using a bold san-serif with various line weights as the Headline, Sub-headline, and using a thin serif for Detail leaves the audience with a strong preview of how the genre entails sounds of unexpected moments.Following the idea of the unexpected, some of the information within the applications break the grid and take diagonal or curved visual lines. This was also applied to the methodology of considering materiality, and discovering alternate ideas of translating the playful energy to tangible applications.
This collaboration between technology and music emphasizes creative research and flexibility, a methodology I aim to reflect in my own design process.
